2 measures gin
1 measure Italian Vermouth (red)
Dash of orange bitters
Cherry

Half fill the mixing glass with broken ice, add the gin, vermouth and bitters.
Stir well, strain into a cocktail glass and ad the cherry.

Medium and Dry Martinis were also incredibly popular, in fact many cocktails
of the 1930s had a base of gin and vermouth.
